Israel Intensifies Air Strikes on Syria Under Pretext of Protecting Druze – World news

Israeli occupation forces confirmed on Wednesday that their drones struck the entrance of the Syrian Army’s General Staff headquarters in the capital.

Syrian media outlets reported the sustained presence of Israeli drones over Damascus, followed by bursts of gunfire in the city center.

Israeli media described the assault as a “warning operation” aimed around the main Syrian military base.

An Israeli army spokesperson said the air force targeted the building’s entrance, claiming the operation was a response to alleged threats against Druze civilians in southern Syria.

The Tel Aviv regime, which has recently accelerated its attacks, is exploiting the issue of the Druze community as a cover to dismantle Syria’s defense infrastructure.

Israeli authorities view control over Syria’s Druze areas as a stepping stone to undermining Druze populations across Lebanon and other Arab states—a tactic repeatedly condemned by Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt.

In recent days, Israeli forces have carried out multiple airstrikes on Suwayda and its surroundings under the same pretext of Druze protection.

Reports indicate that dozens of Druze individuals from the occupied territories were allowed to cross into Syria freely, fueling suspicion over Israel’s real objectives.

Israeli troops and military hardware have been deployed extensively along the border with Syria, as Tel Aviv prepares for potential ground aggression.

Meanwhile, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s trial proceedings were suspended citing “security conditions.”

Hundreds of Druze crossed from the occupied Majdal Shams area into Syria after Israel opened border crossings in a move many observers called dubious.

Israel’s Channel 14 quoted a regime official stating that while a ground invasion into southern Syria was not imminent, it remained a possibility.

Israeli war minister Yisrael Katz postured as a defender of Syria’s Druze, proclaiming the regime would never abandon them.

Katz threatened that if what he called Israel’s message was ignored, attacks on Syrian territory would escalate further.

He also revealed that Tel Aviv ultimately seeks to impose control over southern Syria under the guise of creating a so-called demilitarized zone.
